+

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 is a substantial update to the famed malware-killing machine. This new malware hunter also integrates rootkit detection directly into the software and sports a more streamlined interface.

Pros

New design: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 sports an upgraded look that's more approachable. The more modern design is also an improvement -- larger boxes, fewer tabs, touch-friendly buttons, and adaptive windows. The program tucks nicely into your system tray when not in use and feels sleeker overall.

Features and utilities: Anti-Malware 2.0 has improved 64-bit support and now comes with built-in Anti-Rootkit. Access managers, automatic schedulers, exclusion options, and other utilities are still available, tucked away in the Settings tab.

Security: Malwarebytes tweaked the user flow to improve protection. Prior to running a scan, Anti-Malware 2.0 looks for out-of-date versions, so you'll be running the latest version without question. And while infected computers sometimes block anti-malware apps, Malwarebytes' Chameleon tech stubbornly gets Anti-Malware installed and running, whether or not the PC has malicious programs on it.

Cons

Subscription model: Although existing Lifetime owners will be grandfathered in, new users who want the premium version must get an annual subscription. However, the free version will still exist for all users.

Bottom Line

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 maintains its excellent track record as a strong anti-malware application. The visual refresh, interface tweaks, and inclusion of built-in rootkit detection make it a more modern competitor. While the subscription model may not be for everyone, it's becoming a more widely accepted standard for many security programs.

"Fantastic Product"

October 20, 2014  |  By Jonathan-Lewin

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.36

Pros

I am Professor of Mathematics at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. I heard about Malwarebytes from one of my students and installed it on one of my machines. The results were so immediate and so outstanding that I at once upgraded to the Premium version.
Malwarebytes found and fixed several problems that I had on several of my computers. My regular security protection had given me no help at all.

Cons

None but I agree with other reviewers who have called for more flexibility in licensing.

""Upgraded" version is more hassle than the Malware!"

October 09, 2014  |  By Kamkla

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012

Pros

In theory, it works to get rid of Malware. Can't really attest to that, since I've only had it 2 days.

Cons

Relentless "Upgrade Me" Demands! Opens a pop-up window predicting doom if I don't, and while it allows me to close it, it just pops right back up, every time!! Won't quit, and there's no way to shut it off that I can find.

Summary

I'm seriously considering deleting it, after only 2 days. I thought it was odd that within 24 hours of install, it was demanding an update, but wrote it off as a one time thing, so I allowed it. Now, it seems this will be an ongoing, and never-ending hassle, and frankly, I just don't think I'm that big a target, that I MUST be upgraded every single second. And I certainly don't like the relentless DEMANDS that I must do it - and DO IT NOW!!!, or skip ever seeing the full screen on my computer, ever again!!! What's up with that?!

"Best malware at any price"

October 06, 2014  |  By HomeTheaterDave

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012

Pros

1. The paid version is better then the free version - just pony up and buy it, you won't regret it.
2. I used it to find and destroy 144 viruses/malware that were on my Mom's laptop that Norton and Symantec did not find!!!

Cons

None, this is just about perfect.

Summary

This malware finds virus' that the more expensive malware's can not find.

"The Best Antivirus Ever !!!"

September 26, 2014  |  By UserXXI

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012

Pros

This "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Antivirus" is the best. It always find such viruses which my paid Antivirus doesn't find at all !!! I used free version. Next time I will buy the Pro, paid version.

Cons

No cons at all.

Summary

Believe me I tested many antiviruses and tested the paid versions of them - "Avast", "AVG", "Ad-Aware Antivirus" (was good once, now much worse) etc, etc and recently I bought Antivirus which name I don't want to write because I don't want to dishonor the company and Antivirus. But this paid Antivirus didn't find anything while the "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Antivirus" found 28 viruses!!! Believe me it's the best Antivirus and in the next year I will buy the Pro version.

"Works quickly"

September 24, 2014  |  By wagygirl

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012

Pros

The Threat Scan takes only 10-15 minutes, where the Full Scan used to take about an hour.

Cons

Wonder if the newer Threat Scan is as good as the older Full Scan.
When internet techs checked my computer they used the old version (about 1 1/2 years old) to scan my computer for malware.

Summary

Older version found 137 malware items on my computer.
New version has found anything yet.

"Fixed my problem for free"

September 05, 2014  |  By milehigh714

 |  Version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.36

Pros

everything

Cons

can't think of anything except I wish the premium license covered more than just 3 computers as I have 4.

Summary

I got notified by my ISP that I had 2 BOTS on my system. I have 4 networked computers and didn't know which one or if all were infected. But, Malwarebytes scanned on all 4 of my computers cleaned up not only the 2 bots, but some Trojans and other
PUP's! I am quite thankful to Malwarebytes for cleaning my systems for "free". So thankful, that I decided to purchase the Premium version :-)
